I recently found out about two subreddits that produce some of my favorite images to date. /r/earthporn and /r/spaceporn. Don’t let the irreverant names fool you, these are safe for work unless awesome wallpapers are not allowed at your place of employment. /r/earthporn is a series of high resolution nature shots while /r/spaceporn is a series of high resolution deep space shots. You can’t go wrong with either of them. Definitely worth checking out.
Source Idea: Cool Vibe
If you are looking for strange sometimes funny, sometimes weird, illustrative desktop images cool vibe is the place to go.
How does one add these strange images to Laundry? In Preferences under the Sources tab, add a new RSS source with the feed URL of “http://feeds.coolvibe.com/coolvibe”. Then, sit back and enjoy.
Update: 1.2
Laundry version 1.2 has just been approved and shall be making its way into the App Store over the next few hours. It is highly suggested you download this update as it includes a handful of bug fixes.
Release Notes:
Version 1.2 focuses on Flickr and stability.
• You can now use Flickr groups, places, people, and tags instead of just tags.
• Replaced /r/wallpapers with /r/space as a default reddit source as some people had issues with the content. You can still enable /r/wallpapers or any other subreddit that you want though.
• Cycling is generally faster.
• RSS feeds with “feed://” no longer fail to load.
• Loads of other bugs squashed.
Source Idea: /r/space
Space is beautiful. Not only that but the colorized high res images of space make great desktop images. They are not too bright, contain smooth swirling colors and have just enough variation and texture to keep things interesting.
I might go as far as to say it would be foolish to not have the Reddit source /r/space in your rotation.
Source Idea: Motorcycles Gone Wild
Motorcycles rule.
With version 1.1 of Laundry there is support for Reddit subreddits. The inspiration for this feature? “/r/bikesgonewild”. /r/bikesgonewild showcases awesome bikes from around the globe.
Update to 1.1 or download Laundry to give this awesome new feature a try.
Source Idea: Cityscape
Looking to add a little more hustle and bustle to your desktop? Try the tag “cityscape” in flickr.
It is full of beautiful images from cities all around the globe. Some of my favorite are snowy night images. They remind me a the sound insulation you get when a city is blanketed with a fresh coat of snow. The muted sounds of a car horn, and the noise a taxi makes as it struggles to get up a snowy hill with bald tires.
The Flickr source in Laundry is one of the easiest source types in Laundry to get really good images from. We have a couple tricks up our sleeve to making Flickr and Laundry work even better together in the future.
Version 1.1
Version 1.1 comes with loads of changes!
• Multiple monitor support
• Reddit support
• Cleaned and polished menu
• New improved sources by default to get you started
• Fixes for many RSS feeds.
• Ironed out many bugs
Source Idea: Simple Desktops
One of the original use cases when coming up with Laundry was using it to download images via an RSS feed. The feed that ultimately inspired this comes from simpledesktops.com.
If you are looking for a solid color simple desktop with various well designed simple illustrations look no further.

A great example of the high quality illustrations from Simple Desktops.
Add simpledesktops.com to Laundry and add a little zen to your desktop.
